Committed to the Community of Soccer
Providing more opportunities for more people to play soccer.
Our focus is on the growth of soccer in the Grand Traverse region. It’s the goal of Grand Traverse Soccer League (GTSL) to make soccer accessible and reasonably priced to all kids and their families. We believe that the joys of playing the game should be available to all players regardless of skill level, financial situation, or other time commitments.

The focus and drive behind this camp to develop soccer players with a sense of purpose. Teaching players to become confident both on and off the ball is vital to the development of the players within this country.
From my experience in Europe and America, players excel best when placed in nvironments that are not just fun, but which are challenging to those players involved. The primary focus on the World Cup Skills School is to teach players skills/moves to beat an opponent as an ndividual and in small groups

The focus and primary objective of this camp to develop
confidence, composure and consistency in front of goal.
We believe that too many people teach players to “shoot”
when in front of goal. As a club, we want to teach our players to
be positive in front of goal, thus we use the term “finishing”.
As simple as it may seem, when a player is taught to shoot, this is
exactly what he/she will do in a game. NorthStar wants to
bread positive players, and with this we need to begin to get
inside the players’ head and make it an automatic physical
response to finish as opposed to shooting at goal.

CAMP CURRICULUM AND OUTCOMES
FUNDAMENTAL
Considerations:
1. Basic handling positions
2. Basic positioning concepts
3. Basic and safe distribution (kicks & throws) to team mates for possession and to begin the attack
4. Balance/coordination exercise (overall as well, not solely goalkeeper-specific exercises) with or without the ball
**this curriculum acts as a rough guideline for the introduction level of a goalkeeper. It is our goal to teach the players the basic
technical discipline, but introduce positional play and understanding the the role of the 1st attacker. Goalkeepers that excel
within this course will be invited to the developmental camp the following week**
DEVELOPMENTAL
Considerations:
1. Shot handling and diving to save
2. Handling different flank attacks, including winning crosses
3. Understanding the role of a back pass option to keep possession and begin the attack
4. Ability to communicate and organize their defenders.
5. Speed/Power/Footwork/Core strength
**this curriculum acts as a rough guideline for the developmental level of a goalkeeper. The primary goal at this level is to
re-enforce existing handling techniques, but introduce more complex ideas to the function. Goalkeepers will begin to understand
the role of being the 1st attacker, making the goalkeeper feel more confident with a ball not just in their hand, but at their feet**
ADVANCED
Considerations:
1. Advanced shot stopping - including collapse and extension dive saves
2. Commanding the penalty area and beyond
3. Organization of defense
4. Handling flank attacks from end line to touch line
5. High level of sophistication in positioning
6. Plyometrics/ Goalkeeper fitness/ Power programs (explosiveness)/ Core strength
**this curriculum acts as a rough guideline for the advanced level of a goalkeeper. The primary objective of this level of entry is
that of the advanced technical, tactical, physical and psychological elements of the goalkeeper**
